So I took the time to do extensive testing on weapon damage. Tried all kinds and recorded 100 different damage scores for each different weapon and what I found is in melee weapons the damage between Heavy weapons and Light weapons are the same. The only difference is the weight and the looks so why would I build with heavy weapons they slow the mech down and burn more fuel. My suggestion is you do like you armor tie damage to weight of the weapon. for all weapons 1 shot 1H weapons shouldn’t do the same damage as 1 shot 2 handed weapons, etc. there should be a bennifit to welding a bigger heavier weapon. it’s also more cumbersome so slower attacks and slower movement. a dagger can’t do the same dammage as a sledge hammer.

There is no positive to heavier weapons as of right now. This could change in future however with the possibilities of more weight means more damage for melee weapons. As for ranged weapons we are not sure what would fit, maybe just more damage also to make it fair and balanced?

Two solutions. One is to make heavy weapons deal more base damage as Varien suggested. The other is to just drop weight. The game’s already kind of headed on that direction with weight mattering less as time goes on. Not logical, but it does allow maxium creative freedom.

I understand this game has a lot of creative freedom, but I like the idea that your creativity changes how the Frame works. I feel the first option is a better idea it morrors the armor and doesn’t give you a massive penalty without giving you a massive boost.

As of the 0.6 update, weight on weapons will no longer have any effect on stats. Setting to complete.
