Ability to execute an enemy with melee weapons
(halving, enemy throwing, stump, beat up etc)

Something quick and satisfying that will reward the player with extra drops? Yes, please!

I just remembered that this can be done wrong. Duke Nukem Forever had executions but they were recieved awfully because they were 1) slow, 2) poorly-animated, and 3) were more trouble than they were worth because the player was immobile and vulnerable during these slow executions.
Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal took the same thing and made it a highlight of the game by making it 1) extremely quick, 2) amazingly animated (the look of terror on a demon’s face before you thoroughly murder it) and 3) players are invincible during execution animations and rewarded with health, encouraging players to execute as much as possible.
Alternatively, you could go the Splatterhouse route and pick up a dead enemy (or rip off one of their limbs) to use as a makeshift weapon that does bonus damage but eventually breaks and becomes unusable.

Ah yes, doing it the doom way would make melee combat SOOO much fun! And like you could do it to a boss when their health is low enough to do a spectactular final take down move!

Yes. This feature can be referred from a lots of games out there, DOOM series, Batman series, you name it. The key of making this possible and great is we need to be able to stun or slow or avoid other enemies to carry out the execution.
For MB, the combat is almost as intense as DOOM so I agree that the execution animation will have to be short and sweet, and certain amount of rewards given for execution will be appreciated.
Who knows, one day we will be able to execute multiple low health enemies with one blow. A bonus missile strike / massive slash / enhanced piercing shot or some sort.
